Update on the 8/25 Mississippi Braves event

More details have surfaced about the Mississippi Braves event on August 25th. Originally reported as an Appreciation night with an autograph session and a Murphy first pitch, the Mississippi Braves Promotions Schedule has been updated to include the following:
The Mississippi Braves are proud to announce that a luncheon will be held in Dale Murphy's honor on August 25th at the Crystal Springs Ford, Lincoln, Mercury Café. Murphy will throw out the first pitch and sign autographs at that night's game, but a limited group of fans will get to enjoy lunch with the Atlanta Braves Hall-of-Famer. The former National League MVP will also be the key note speaker at the luncheon.

Dale Murphy to appear at Richmond Braves finale at The Diamond

Dale Murphy is among some all-time Braves greats who will be appearing at Richmond's final game at The Diamond on September 1st.
Among the other players scheduled to be in attendance are David Justice, Javy Lopez, Ralph Garr and Tommy Greene.

Sad Day for Braves Fans: Skip Caray passes away...

AtlantaBraves.com is reporting that Skip Caray has passed away at the age of 68.
A sad day for all Braves fans, but we will always remember Skip's enthusiasm and wit when calling the Braves during the good times and the bad. I personally grew up listening to Skip call the Braves with my Grandfather, so he will always have a special place in my heart.
And no Braves fan will ever forget these words: "Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win!...Braves win!"
MLB.com has a nice video tribute to Skip, including that famous 1992 NLCS call.

Mississippi Braves to honor Dale Murphy

The Mississippi Clarion Ledger is reporting that Dale Murphy will be honored by the Mississippi Braves with Dale Murphy Appreciation Night on Monday, August 25th.
"The M-Braves have declared Aug. 25 Dale Murphy Appreciation Night and the former Atlanta Brave will appear at Trustmark Park when the M-Braves play Mobile. Murphy will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and be available to sign autographs."

Dale Murphy to participate in Sports Hero Day

The Deseret News is reporting that Dale Murphy will take part in Sports Hero Day at Pioneer Park in Provo, UT.
The event is today, June 28th from 8am to noon. The event is presented by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County and will serve families throughout the county.

Shawn Murphy drafted by the Miami Dolphins

MiamiDolphins.com is reporting that Dale's son Shawn was drafted in the 4th round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.
I was secretly hoping for this because I'm a huge Dolphins fan and now I can get a Miami Murphy jersey!

Check out this Murphy RC from The Topps Vault on eBay!
It's a "4-Color Film Positive". I'm not really sure what that is - I've heard of Negatives, but not Positives. Its up to $450 and there's about a day left.
If I had the cash, I'd put it in my collection.
